Made-in-Studio: Found Poetry with Atira Zeoli

Join Atira Zeoli for an afternoon of creating found poetry using blackout, erasure, and cut-up techniques.

Found poetry is the literary equivalent of a collage. By repurposing existing texts—such as books, articles, recipes, junk mail, or court testimonies—the poet creates something entirely new. This technique has inspired countless great writers, from Dadaists and Beat poets to modern-day rock stars like David Bowie and Radiohead.

Found poetry is a fun and liberating way to break free from creative ruts and spark radical new ideas. As David Bowie once said, “What I’ve used it for, more than anything else, is igniting anything that might be in my imagination.”

All crafting supplies will be provided, but participants are also welcome to bring their own printed materials to repurpose. Come ready to play!
