Poolesville Public Art Project Public Planning Meetings

Calling all local neighbors, artists and visionaries!

Riverworks Art Center is teaming up with Story Tapestries on an exciting new public art project for Poolesville, and we want YOU to be part of it!

Got big ideas, bold creativity, or just a love for making things happen in your community? Join us for one (or all) of our upcoming planning meetings to learn more, share your ideas, and help shape what this project becomes.

Meetings are open to everyone. Come listen, ask questions, and get inspired. You must attend a scheduled meeting if you'd like to submit work for consideration in the final selection.

Mark your calendars:

Monday, October 26, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Riverworks Studio at Alden Farms

Wednesday, November 4, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Riverworks Studio at Alden Farms

Sunday, November 8, 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Poolesville Town Hall

Please contact Vicky Thompson, Riverworks Director of Programming and Events, at vicky@riverworksart.org if you have any accessibility requirements or need special accommodations to participate.

Let's create something beautiful for Poolesville, together. See you there!

Who should come?

• Poolesville residents of all ages and backgrounds.

• Artists, storytellers, neighbors, students, families, local business owners, and anyone who cares about Poolesville.

• People who know Poolesville’s stories, people who are new to town, and people imagining what comes next.

What should I bring? How can I participate?

• Come with a story, an idea, a memory, a sketch, a few words, or simply your perspective.

• Talk, write, draw, build, make, listen, or respond to someone else’s idea.

• Bring something you love about Poolesville, something you would miss, or something you hope the community carries forward.

What should I expect?

• Come ready to talk, listen, make, and imagine together.

• We’ll begin with conversation about Poolesville: the places, people, stories, history, and experiences that make this community what it is.

• You’ll have different ways to respond. Talk with us, write or sketch an idea, draw or paint, or experiment with simple sculptural materials.

• You can contribute individually or build on ideas with other people.

• No art experience is needed. The goal is not to arrive with a finished design. We are gathering ideas, stories, images, shapes, and possibilities that can help inform the future public art installation.

• Artists Jessica Wallach and Luis Del Valle will guide the conversation and creative activities so there are multiple ways to participate.
