Youth Arts: Birch Trees in the Snow

Class Description

January 17, 1-3 PM Riverworks Studio at Alden Farms Ages 10 - 15 (Contact us for age exceptions) Come join art educator Talia Rizzo for this creative workshop exploring watercolors. Young artists will be introduced to the concept of painting a watercolor landscape, with birch trees in the snow as their subject matter. Students will be exploring four painting techniques using this medium: wet on wet, wet on dry, lining, and salt texturing. They will also learn how to set up a landscape composition focusing on developing the foreground, middleground, and background as they work in unison to create a harmonious image. This challenge will be done in steps. Each creative task will help strengthen the artist 's ability to follow multi-step directions as well as build creative confidence developing a scene. This is a fun experience for all painting levels. So come enjoy a relaxing afternoon creating a magical snow scene!
