Youth Arts: Scratch Art

Class Description

February 21, 1-3 PM Riverworks Studio at Alden Farms Ages 8 - 15 (Contact us for age exceptions) Come join art educator Talia Rizzo for this fun workshop exploring making your own scratch art paper. Young artists will be introduced to the craft of making scratch art paper and designing. First the artists create their paper by layering colors of oil pastels onto their drawing surface. Then they will color over their colored surface using a black oil pastel. When complete, students will explore the idea of etching lines as they remove the black oil pastel that has hidden the colors underneath. Through this process students will create a line etching focusing on developing designs, details, and patterns, exploring the possibilities of contrasting line and color. This is a fantastic art exploration for all ages!
